    T-Rex Appliance

The T-Rex Appliance is used to distalize the molars and expand the arch in two phases. Effective arch development is achieved with pre-activated .032 TMA wire, an expansion screw, and rests on the premolars. After expansion, It produces a wide swinging arc of force from the midline of the palate to the upper molars producing a pendulum motion of the spring.  A wire is welded to the band and embedded in the acrylic preventing the activation of the springs while expansion is occurring. When transverse arch development is complete, the clinician cuts the welded wire causing the springs to activate and distalize the molars. An adjustment loop can be added to the spring to aid in rotation of the molars. Lingual sheaths are spot welded onto the band and can be provided by the lab.

    Theroux Phase I Retainer

The Theroux retainer was originally designed by Dr. Kevin L. Theroux DDS, MS. The purpose of this appliance to maintain arch width and tooth position after Phase I treatment while providing sufficient space for erupting adult teeth and exfoliation of the deciduous teeth. It is common for patients in this part of Tx to have short clinical crowns making it difficult to clasp with a retainer making this appliance ideal. This device wraps the incisors and follows 2mm away from the gingival margin while encasing the molars. The rigidity of the material is excellent to maintain the arch form post-expansion.

    Tremont Cantilever

The Tremont Cantilever is a modern take on the wraparound. This appliance provides stability without the aid support wires while providing excellent retention. Technicians laser weld .036 wire to the posterior to the omega loops stabilizing the wraparound bow.  The appliance can be adjusted with three prong pliers to move the anterior section of the bow more incisal or gingival.

  • Twin Block

The Twin Block is a removable appliance that utilizes acrylic blocks formed in conjunction to pull the mandible forward. Our standard Twin Block incorporates an upper mid line screw also. The phase II retainer helps retain the bite until the bicuspids have erupted into the occlusion and posterior contact is established. Twin block treatment can be done in two steps, first with an active Twin Block and second with the Phase 2 Twin Block to support the correction. After this functional appliance phase is complete, fixed orthodontic treatment is necessary for the settling of occlusion and maintenance of the skeletal correction achieved and correction of any remaining dental discrepancy. Note: When sending a Twin Block case, please be sure to provide accurate models and a bite registration to aid in accuracy.

    W Arch

The W Arch or Porter appliance is fabricated using .036 wire. The appliance is activated by opening the apices and can be easily adjusted to provide more anterior or posterior expansion. The appliance should be manually opened 3-4 mm before insertion to provide proper forces. The expansion should continue at a rate of 2mm per month until the crossbite is overcorrected.
